Miami FL is a tropical climate. (Zones 10b or 11) There aren't many other places to share gardening information for tropical climates. And like everything else in this city, the plant life and possibilities are as diverse as the amazing people who live here. This blog is authored by at least 4 folks that are gardening in various Miami locations and various garden sizes.
Tropical Gardening in the US
This is a notebook of the thoughts, experiments, and musings as we try to garden in the tropical climate of Miami, FL. I'm keeping this blog but not only of my input but also of friends around the city that are also gardening. I'm Heidi Aspinwall. I've worked with DOOR-Miami and gotten to know folks from all over Miami. They work in agencies, schools, churches, government programs.
Miami is a great place for all kinds of things, being from a diverse place, good food, getting too much sun. It is also a great place to experiment because who knows what will work! The laws and cultural rules of the rest of the United States certainly don't work here. And given the diversity of the population (human, plant and animal!) I'm sure that no known set of rules can be applied here and they'll actually hold up like they did in the original situation.

This Blog contains reflections upon gardening in soil as well as gardening in lives. It is sometimes environmental and sometimes spiritual. It may contain discussion of the soil of community, the nourishment of good conversations, or the fruit of decisions. It contains random information upon gardening in the tropical climate of Zone 10b almost 11. It may contain descriptions of experiments, ants, or other tropical mishaps.
